Grape production history - Finca Linda
The current owner has records of production going back to 2004. In that span, the most productive year was 150,000 kilos of grapes. There have been 3 years with hail damage, which can eliminate the harvest completely, including the 2016/17 growing season. An average year brings in around 80,000-110,000 kilos.
Just to put a perspective on these production levels, a standard 40 foot shipping container can hold 1,200 cases of (12) 750ml bottles of wine, that amounts to around 9+ shipping containers of bottled production per year this vineyard can yield.
The apricots don't often contribute significantly to this farm's income, as late frosts often freeze blossoms. The age of the trees is also a factor, a really good year for this farm would only produce approx. 20,000 kilos of apricots at the most. One might think about replanting this orchard with pears, peaches, or plums which bloom later and are not as susceptible to frost. Walnuts and olives are high-value crops, but, have a long lead time before reaching commercial production levels.
The owners kicked around the idea of distilling brandy from the apricots at one point. There is certainly ample facility to do so in the under-utilized barn area, many projects are possible here.
The open field of approx. 1 hectare is also ready for cultivation. Most Mediterranean climate crops do well here.
